James B. Forger

James B. Forger is Professor and Dean of the College of Music at Michigan State University. Prior to his current appointment, he was a member of the faculty of East Carolina University.

Dean Forger has performed widely through South America, Europe, Asia, and the former Soviet Union and has been active as a saxophone soloist, appearing with orchestras including the Pittsburgh Symphony, Warsaw Philharmonic, Grand Teton Music Festival Orchestra, and Grand Rapids Symphony, as well as recent concerts in Havana and Shanghai. He has commissioned works by Milton Babbitt, John Anthony Lennon, David Liptak, Donald Martino, Charles Ruggiero, and Morton Subotnick.

He has served NASM as a member of the Commission on Accreditation, two terms as a member of the Commission on Non-Degree Granting Accreditation, and member of the Nominating Committee.

Dean Forger earned his undergraduate and graduate degrees at the University of Michigan.
